Purpose: means to have intention, meaning, aim, —to have intention and resolve. It also means to make a decision; to give serious thought or discussion. To be mindful in what you pursue. It means to “destine~ to preordain or predetermine. To endeavor(or attempt to achieve something)strive. It’s your “lifework” or your calling. It’s our plan or reason for pursuing something. It means to have courage.

I bet you didn’t know all that, did you? (Neither did I!) So i suppose we both learned something today. When you are doing your life’s work, and you are destined to do something. You have JOY. The greatest feeling is when someone gives their all to their work, and it doesn’t feel like work, because you are “called” to do it.” Many don’t have that feeling, …but if you do, it’s a sincere blessing. Well, since it takes courage to be purposed, make sure you take some risks to be what you really desire to be. Otherwise, you end up living life unfulfilled.

    Any thoughts??

  2. Hi Jen – I found your site from your recent posting on videoregeneration.:) I really like how you link purpose to mindfulness in this post. This is something I am working on daily – being present and mindful – whether writing this posting, video blogging, video journaling – whatever it may be. Staying in the moment is such a key practice to maintain.

I talked to a friend the other day about her feeling a lack of purpose in life. The ironic thing is that often if you stay mindful – the purpose starts to naturally reveal itself.

And the risk taking is important too! Thanks for writing an inspiring post.

  3. ON PROGRESS – How does it reach for you? …Or, better yet…. do YOU reach for it??

Well, when you reach for it, it just seems to show up. I have made such PROGRESS in my life, because I started to ‘yield’ and allow some things happen — and once the wave started, it just seemed to SWELL. I once attended a Leadership Conference that tapped into my stagnancy because it dealt with me honestly facing some issues about oppression in my life. When I was challenged over the course of five days TO FACE these issues, consistently, I saw they had held me back from my God- given potential. I had to break through. I recall my breakthrough moment very clearly… A friend and I had just had a full night, and we were ‘spent ‘soaking up the remainder of a really deep session on gaining perspective. Knowing my name, Jennifer – meant “White Wave“, I then proceeded to explain to her that I’d finally RECEIVED this newfound revelation on my name. As I spoke, I saw a wave grow from a small tide, to a HUGE tidal wave, in my head, because of the healing I was imparted during this season of my life. The more I began to realize that My Dreams would be impacted by taking some obvious RISKS, I decided to “give myself permission to be released and gain new perspective. I decided to STOP living for others, and take advantage of the life I lived for myself. Not having any responsibilities but my own, I decided to “allow” myself to receive all the help I needed to have. My life was CHANGED FOREVER.
I am now living and doing things I HAD NEVER IMAGINED I WOULD DO.

So …What do you need to EMBRACE today that you have been running from — in order that it may launch you into your purpose?
    Selah.
